Why is the inorganic membrane so much more expensive than the organic membrane?

Inorganic ceramic membranes are much more expensive than organic membranes, primarily due to the following reasons.

High material costs: Ceramic membranes utilize high-performance ceramic materials such as alumina, zirconium oxide, and silicon carbide, while organic membranes use polymers (such as PVDF and PES), resulting in a large difference in raw material costs.

Complex manufacturing processes: Ceramic membranes require high-temperature sintering (above 1800°C), leading to high energy consumption; organic membranes can be mass-produced through simple phase separation or stretching processes.
