Jiuwu's client wins international SGS certification for the papermaking industry

Recently, the BM13 Project for Zero Discharge of Papermaking Wastewater at Asia Symbol (Jiangsu) Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd., for which Jiuwu Hi-Tech was deeply involved in the design and supplied core equipment, has officially passed the rigorous audit by SGS, the international authoritative testing, inspection, and certification organization, and successfully secured the "Factory Wastewater Zero Discharge" certification.

SGS - "True Net Zero" International Certification

SGS (Société Générale de Surveillance), founded in 1878, is headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland. As a world-renowned international testing, inspection, and certification organization, SGS has long been committed to promoting corporate sustainable development. It integrates ESG concepts into its own operations and assists companies in implementing Environmental (E), Social (S), and Governance (G) practices by providing professional services—such as conducting carbon emission accounting, supply chain social responsibility audits, and corporate governance compliance consulting—thereby helping companies achieve their ESG goals.

As the first benchmark case in China's papermaking industry to receive this international authoritative certification, this achievement represents not only high recognition of the project's technical reliability and environmental compliance but also a significant milestone for Jiuwu Hi-Tech in addressing the challenges of treating high-salinity, high-pollution wastewater in the papermaking industry with its core "Membrane Separation + Resource Recovery" technology. It marks a crucial step forward for China's papermaking industry on its path to green transformation.

As a leading enterprise in the field of industrial wastewater treatment and resource recovery, Jiuwu Hi-Tech's integrated membrane material technology tackles the pain points of papermaking wastewater—high COD, high suspended solids, high salinity, and complex composition. The project innovatively adopts a full-chain integrated process system of "Pretreatment + Multi-stage Membrane Concentration + Nanofiltration Salt Separation + Evaporation Crystallization," establishing a closed-loop treatment process from wastewater purification to resource recovery. The key technical advantages are:

 Pretreatment Stage: Utilizes a combination of process technologies, such as efficient sedimentation, ozone-biological activated carbon filters, and filtration, to remove suspended solids, colloids, and some refractory organic matter, building a robust "protective barrier" for the stable operation of subsequent membrane systems.

 Multi-stage Membrane Concentration Process: Relies on a multi-stage membrane combination process to deeply retain small-molecule pollutants and preliminarily enrich water resources, thereby increasing the concentration factor and reducing treatment energy consumption.

 Nanofiltration Salt Separation Stage: Employs precise ion separation technology to split sodium chloride and sodium sulfate, overcoming the challenge of separating and recovering salt resources in traditional processes.

 Evaporation Crystallization Technology: Converts the concentrated salt solution into industrial-grade sodium chloride, sodium sulfate, and a small amount of mixed salt, realizing the resource recovery and utilization of salt resources.

Challenging Conventions, Building a Circular Economy


This process system has not only achieved 100% full reuse of the production tailwater at Asia Symbol's plant, where the high-quality reclaimed water produced can be directly used for process water make-up, cooling tower circulation, and other applications—replacing freshwater resource consumption and saving the enterprise substantial water resource costs annually. Moreover, the recovered industrial-grade salt products can be reintroduced into production or sold externally, establishing a circular economy model of "wastewater → reclaimed water → salt resources." This fundamentally challenges the traditional perception in the papermaking industry that wastewater can only be managed through end-of-pipe treatment.


As a benchmark project in China's papermaking industry to first obtain the SGS "Factory Wastewater Zero Discharge" certification, the successful application of this process has not only established Asia Symbol (Jiangsu) Pulp & Paper Co., Ltd. as an exemplary enterprise for water reuse and resource recycling within the domestic and international papermaking industry but has also validated the maturity and advancement of Jiuwu Hi-Tech's membrane separation technology in the field of challenging industrial wastewater treatment.
