Jiuwu’s Zero-Discharge Project in Shandong Yutai Park Attracts Multiple Mainstream Media Outlets for On-site Visit

Recently, four major Shandong-based media outlets—Zhonghong Net, Qilu Evening News, Dazhong Net, and China Shandong Net—visited the site of the Yutai Changqing Industrial Park Wastewater Treatment Plant project for a joint interview. The Yutai Changqing Industrial Park Wastewater Treatment Plant serves as the core environmental protection supporting facility for the 600,000-ton-per-year Lyocell fiber project of Singapore's RGE Group. This Lyocell fiber project is a major project in Shandong Province and has been included by the Ministry of Commerce in both the national list of key foreign-funded projects and the national landmark projects list. The first phase of the industrial park's wastewater treatment project has a treatment capacity of 10,000 cubic meters per day, covers an area of 45 mu (approximately 3 hectares), and represents a total investment of 205 million yuan.

The media team conducted an on-site inspection of the project's operation. The project is jointly invested and constructed by Shandong Public Utilities and Jiangsu Jiuwu Hi-Tech. As one of the construction and operation parties, Jiuwu Hi-Tech deeply integrated the core strengths of both parties. Leveraging its leading membrane technology support and innovative R&D capabilities, the company has built this project into an industrial wastewater zero-discharge treatment plant, delivering a high-standard solution to local governments, partners, and the industry development.

During the on-site interview, journalists toured the core sections of the project, including the pretreatment, membrane treatment, and evaporation crystallization stages. They listened to a professional explanation from Zuo Le, Deputy General Manager of Yutai Public Water Co., Ltd., regarding the process design, technological innovation, and operational effectiveness.

Relying on its self-developed core integrated technologies of ultrafiltration-reverse osmosis-nanofiltration, Jiuwu Hi-Tech has established a benchmark project for industrial wastewater zero discharge. The project adopts an advanced technical route combining "membrane process + evaporation crystallization," achieving water resource recycling and the reduction and resource utilization of solid waste.

The reporter from Zhonghong Net focused on the project's technological innovation and its significance as an industry benchmark. The reporter from Qilu Evening News highlighted the project's positive impact on local economic development and the improvement of people's livelihoods. Through communication with the staff, the reporter from Dazhong Net learned about the entire process of how wastewater is "turned into treasure." The reporter from China Shandong Net, from the perspective of regional collaborative environmental governance, delved deeply into the project's ecological value.

During his introduction to the media, Zuo Le stated that the Yutai project innovatively adopts high-packing-density ceramic membrane ultrafiltration technology. Compared with traditional organic membranes, this technology offers advantages such as lower membrane replacement frequency, longer service life, and stronger anti-fouling capability, thereby reducing operational and maintenance costs.

Meanwhile, the project has achieved that all by-product salts meet industrial standards, truly turning waste into treasure. "The system is tailored to the characteristics of the industrial park's wastewater, featuring low energy consumption and easy operation. The effluent quality meets the quasi-Class III standard, surpassing local Shandong requirements," said Zuo Le. "The successful operation of this project once again validates Jiuwu Hi-Tech's technological prowess in the field of industrial wastewater treatment and provides a replicable and scalable innovative solution for the industry."

As a leading enterprise in the domestic ceramic membrane sector, Jiuwu Hi-Tech leveraged its full-chain advantages, including proprietary membrane material R&D, process design, equipment integration, engineering construction, and operational maintenance support, to win the bid for this project against multiple industry competitors. The project employs an integrated membrane process combining ultrafiltration, reverse osmosis, and nanofiltration. This system not only efficiently removes pollutants from wastewater but also recovers valuable substances, helping enterprises save costs, reduce solid waste generation, and achieve a win-win scenario for both environmental and economic benefits.

Upon completion, the project enables full collection and treatment of all industrial wastewater within the park. The discharged water meets the quasi-Class III standard of the Environmental Quality Standards for Surface Water (GB3838-2002), with total salt content ≤ 1500 mg/L and sulfate ≤ 350 mg/L. These discharge standards are superior to those required by the local Shandong standard, Integrated Discharge Standard of Water Pollutants for Watersheds – Part 1: Nansi Lake and Dongping Lake Watershed (DB37/3416.1-2023). The project helps enterprises in the park comply with environmental discharge regulations, promotes industrial green upgrading, and strengthens the ecological protection barrier in the industrial sector.

Simultaneously, the system highly concentrates the salts in the wastewater before achieving resource utilization. The produced sodium chloride and sodium sulfate meet the Class I standard of GB/T 5462-2015 Industrial Salt and the Class II, first-grade standard of GB/T 6009-2014 Industrial Anhydrous Sodium Sulfate, respectively. This places the project at a leading level among similar water treatment projects worldwide, demonstrating significant industry benchmarking effects.

Liu Bo, Chairman of Yutai Public Water Co., Ltd., stated during the interview: "Jiuwu Hi-Tech's membrane technology has solved the long-standing environmental protection challenges that have constrained the development of the industrial park. It has not only enhanced the park's environmental carrying capacity but also attracted more high-quality projects to settle in, injecting new momentum into the high-quality economic development of Yutai County."

As a pioneer in the field of membrane separation technology, Jiuwu Hi-Tech has always been committed to industrial wastewater resource utilization and innovation in environmental protection technologies. This joint interview by major Shandong media outlets not only showcased the technical advantages and application results of the Yutai project but also highlighted Jiuwu Hi-Tech's responsibility and commitment to driving the green transformation of the industry.

The project leader from Jiuwu Hi-Tech stated: "We will take the Yutai project as a model, continue to increase our investment in membrane technology R&D, and continuously expand the application scenarios of integrated membrane processes in industries such as titanium dioxide, chemicals, and metallurgy, contributing Jiuwu's strength to the realization of China's 'dual carbon' goals and the construction of an ecological civilization."

This joint media interview event has enabled more people to understand the immense potential of membrane technology in the field of industrial wastewater treatment, creating a favorable public opinion atmosphere for the promotion and application of membrane-based water treatment technologies. Moving forward, Jiuwu Hi-Tech will continue to maintain close cooperation with the media, jointly telling the story of water treatment using membrane technology, and supporting the high-quality development of China's environmental protection industry.
