  • Filtrate specification — Ca/Mg, suspended solids or turbidity, and stability across feed changes.

  • Consumables and labour — filter aid or media use, chemical cleaning, operator attention and maintenance.

  • Solids handling — sludge, concentrate or waste stream and its disposal.

  • Footprint and site interfaces — plot area, utilities, piping and control integration.

Where ceramic membranes fit

Ceramic membrane filtration can offer a stable filtrate specification with low consumable demand and a compact, automatable footprint. But it is not a drop-in replacement in every case: whether it is the right route depends on precipitation performance, solids characteristics, target filtrate quality, capacity, waste handling and site constraints. The correct decision is to compare routes against the same feed and the same acceptance criteria.
