Recently, the Nanjing Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology announced the list of typical cases for the National Pilot City for Digital Transformation of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). Jiuwu Hi-Tech stood out among numerous participating enterprises in the city and was successfully selected, owing to its innovative practices in enterprise-wide digital value chain innovation and its exploration and formation of a new deep integration development model combining "membrane materials + intelligent manufacturing."
This selection marks another important recognition for Jiuwu Hi-Tech in the digitalization field, following the company's "High-end Intelligent Ceramic Membrane Production Line Project" being selected as a typical case of industrial digital transformation by the China Federation of Industrial Economics in December 2024. It also signifies that the benchmark model of digital transformation for specialized and sophisticated SMEs created by the company has received dual recognition from both the government and the industry.
In the process of comprehensively advancing digital and intelligent transformation and striving to establish a benchmark for intelligent manufacturing in the membrane industry, Jiuwu Hi-Tech has closely focused on the three core business scenarios of traditional manufacturing — R&D, supply chain operations, and business decision-making. The company has thoroughly identified pain points and challenges across each link. Centered on key areas such as product lifecycle management, industrial and supply chain integration, and intelligent management decision-making, Jiuwu has defined a set of precise and pragmatic digital upgrade requirements. This has laid a clear implementation direction for systematically addressing business bottlenecks, improving operational efficiency, and strengthening its digital foundation.
Digitalization needs in product lifecycle management
· After design parameters are modified, simulations cannot be updated synchronously, and manual adjustments are time-consuming — requiring parametric automatic modeling to drive simulation synchronization.
· Standard verification relies on manual efforts — necessitating the integration of industry standards to enable automatic comparison of simulation results with specification limits and automatic generation of calculation reports.
· Talent loss leads to technological discontinuity — requiring the construction of a simulation knowledge base to capture successful cases and calibration parameters, enabling junior engineers to quickly complete high-quality analysis.
Digitalization needs in industrial and supply chain operations
· Under high-frequency, small-batch demand, there is a disconnect between distribution and scheduling — a system is needed to automatically issue picking instructions based on schedules, enabling seamless material-to-workstation integration.
· Exception handling relies excessively on manual intervention — custom trigger logic is required, with automatic alarm push notifications via DingTalk or WeChat Work.
· Inventory visibility across multiple plants is lacking — a global dynamic inventory view is needed, with automatic internal transfer recommendations generated based on consumption rates.
Digitalization needs in intelligent management decision-making
· Integration across multiple systems is required to enable automatic flow of business documents, replacing manual repetitive data entry.
· Master data should be distributed to various business systems through a master data platform to ensure consistency of core data, laying the foundation for business-finance integration.
With the goal of empowering high-quality development of traditional manufacturing through digital and intelligent transformation, Jiuwu Hi-Tech has purposefully advanced several key digitalization initiatives. By building a unified data governance system, establishing an integrated design cloud platform, and creating a full-cycle digital marketing management model, the company has effectively broken down data silos, improved R&D collaboration efficiency, and strengthened its modern marketing operations system — providing solid support for refined management and efficient business operations.
First, digitalization across the product lifecycle has been achieved. Using the CRM system as the main entry point for marketing management, the business processes and data for marketing management and operations management have been integrated across the PM, ERP, and OA systems. Key elements such as customers, sales opportunities, contracts, delivery milestones, technical proposals, and collection plans are unified under a "project" view for full lifecycle management. This has enabled integrated marketing management and digitalized operations management, building an efficient, agile, and transparent modern marketing operations management system.
Second, an integrated design and simulation cloud platform has been established to enable industrial chain collaboration. A hardware cluster comprising computing nodes, distributed storage, and a 10-gigabit network has been built. By deploying the WiseCloud service platform, the company has focused on addressing process management pain points in product design, delivery design, and project management, achieving efficient collaboration in product design and process design both within the enterprise and across upstream and downstream partners in the industrial chain.
Third, by consolidating business data across the entire enterprise, data silos have been broken down. A lakehouse-integrated platform has been used to unify master data from various business systems. After being aggregated into the data warehouse, data from different business systems is processed in layers within the data middleware. Ultimately, this provides data support for the BI management cockpit and delivers decision-making intelligence for smart management — enabling visual monitoring of key performance indicators.
Through this transformation, the company's overall decision-making efficiency has been significantly improved, achieving a critical shift from "experience-driven" to "data-driven" operations. Routine decision-making efficiency has increased by 30%, and reporting and statistics efficiency has increased by 80%.
Leveraging the core driving force of digital transformation, Jiuwu Hi-Tech has fully empowered its projects and embedded the DNA of intelligent operations. Through enterprise digital transformation, the company has established a full-process environmental project service model encompassing "digital design, intelligent construction, and smart operation and maintenance," becoming a key pillar for regional ecological environment protection and green industrial development.
Take the Yutai project as an example. In its central control room, various water quality indicators and equipment operating parameters are displayed on a large screen, enabling full-process data collection and intelligent control from inflow to outflow. Key indicators such as total dissolved solids, sulfate, and COD are monitored 24/7 with millisecond-level data updates. The system automatically adjusts chemical dosing and membrane module operating parameters in response to real-time water quality changes, ensuring that the effluent consistently meets the quasi-Class III standard.
In an era of deep integration between the digital economy and the real economy, digital transformation has become an essential pathway for the high-quality development of traditional manufacturing. The practice of Jiuwu Hi-Tech proves that as long as enterprises adhere to innovation-driven development and deeply integrate digital technologies with the real economy, traditional manufacturing can be revitalized with new vitality and dynamism. It is believed that under the leadership of benchmark enterprises like Jiuwu Hi-Tech, more and more small and medium-sized enterprises will embark on the path of digital transformation, making greater contributions to driving high-quality development of manufacturing and cultivating new productive forces in Nanjing and across China.
